Press Release SOS Bus Faces Unprecedented Demand

 – Public Support Needed Now

The SOS Bus, a vital lifeline for vulnerable individuals during nights out and community events, is experiencing a surge in demand for its services. Recent figures reveal a dramatic increase in deployments, interactions, and first aid interventions, underscoring the growing need for this essential community resource.

SOS Bus activity comparison: Events, Interactions, and First Aid cases across recent years.

  • 2023–24: 19 events, 158 interactions, including 18 first aid cases.
  • 2024–25: 19 events, 350 interactions, 42 first aid cases, totalling 483 volunteer hours.
  • 2025–26 (so far): 17 events, 459 interactions, 33 first aid cases, with over 480 volunteer hours already logged – and the year has only just begun.

Real-Life Impact: A Success Story

One night, a couple visited the bus following a misunderstanding at a local club. Emotions were high, but they found a safe space with us to pause, breathe, and talk things through – separately at first, then together. We’re proud to say that the next day we heard they’ve resolved their differences and are moving forward stronger.
Sometimes all it takes is a calm space, a listening ear, and a bit of time. This is why we’re here.

Urgent Call for Support

To keep pace with demand and get the SOS Bus back on the road, we urgently need public donations and corporate sponsorships. Every pound helps us train volunteers, stock essential medical supplies, and keep the bus operational. Without additional funding, our ability to respond effectively is at risk.

Quote from SOS Bus Leadership
“We’re seeing record numbers of people needing help – and we’re proud to be there for them. But we can’t do it alone. Every donation, big or small, helps us save lives and keep our community safe.” – John Borda, Chair
